How It Works

Getting your property safety rating is quick and easy. Here's how our service works:

1. Enter Your Address

Simply enter any UK postcode or full address into our search bar. For the most accurate results, include the postcode (e.g., "SW1A 1AA" or "10 Downing Street, London SW1A 2AA").

2. Get Your Instant Rating

We analyse crime data within a 1 kilometre radius of your address and compare it against regional averages to give you a star rating:

GoldTop 25%
SilverTop 25-50%
BronzeTop 50-75%
No RatingBottom 25%

3. Download Your Report

For a detailed analysis, purchase one of our comprehensive PDF reports:

  • Basic Report (£4.99): 12-month crime data, star rating, regional ranking, crime breakdown by category, and stop and search data.
  • Essentials Report (£9.99): Everything in Basic plus 3-year crime trends, regional trends for most common crime types, and comparison with national crime rates.
  • Enhanced Report (£14.99): Everything in Essentials plus 999 police response times, 999 ambulance response times (England only), nearest emergency facilities, local school safety, and local transport hub crime rates.

Data Sources and Coverage

Crime statistics are sourced from the official Police.uk open data service, which is updated monthly by police forces across England and Wales. Our ratings use the most recent 12-36 months of data depending on your report type. Please see our current data exclusions below.

Important: Greater Manchester Data Restriction

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) does not currently publish crime data through Police.uk, meaning the entire Greater Manchester area is excluded from our coverage.

For properties near the Greater Manchester boundary: Crime figures may be understated because crimes occurring on the Greater Manchester side of the boundary are not included in the statistics. You will see a warning banner if your searched property is affected.

In PDF reports: Schools, transport hubs, or other facilities located within Greater Manchester will show "No data available*" with a footnote explanation, rather than displaying potentially misleading zero-crime figures.

Important: Scotland Data Restriction

Scotland operates a separate policing system under Police Scotland, which does not publish crime data through Police.uk. As a result, Scotland is entirely excluded from our coverage and we are unable to provide ratings for Scottish addresses.

For properties near the Scottish border: Crime figures may be understated because crimes occurring on the Scottish side of the border are not captured in the statistics. You will see a warning banner if your searched property is close enough to the border to be affected.

In PDF reports: Schools, transport hubs, or other facilities located within Scotland will show "No data available*" with a footnote explanation, rather than displaying potentially misleading zero-crime figures.

Other exclusions currently in place:

  • 999 Police Response Times — not available for City of London Police force (NB: this is a very small police force and does not affect the availability of data for the Metropolitan Police Service force area).
  • 999 Ambulance Response Times — not available for Wales.
